Washington, D.C. – U.S. house prices rose nationwide in May, up 0.3 percent from the previous month, according to the U.S. Federal Housing (FHFA) seasonally adjusted monthly House Price Index (FHFA HPI®). House prices rose 2.2 percent from May 2025 to May 2026. The previously reported 0.1 percent price decline in April remained unchanged.
For the nine census divisions, seasonally adjusted monthly home price changes ranged from -0.6 percent in the Pacific division to +1.4 percent in the East South Central division. The 12-month changes ranged from -0.3 percent in the Pacific division to +4.5 percent in the Middle Atlantic division.
