Chris Bosland, Acting Deputy Director

Chris Bosland joined FHFA in May 2019 as Senior Advisor for Regulation. He has also served as the Agency’s Principal Deputy Director and, since 2021, as Chief External Risk Officer. Before joining FHFA, Bosland served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Assistant Deputy Special Inspector General at SIGTARP, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s watchdog agency created to provide oversight of the financial crisis bailout and recovery programs.
He has a broad background in bank supervision, mortgage finance, capital markets and law. An attorney with both private practice and in-house experience, Bosland has also served as an investment banker and as an independent consultant. Prior to that, he served as Counsel to a former Director of the Federal Housing Finance Board.
A native of New Jersey, Bosland has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics from Rutgers University, a Master of Public Affairs degree from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University and a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. He currently resides in northern Virginia with his wife and three children.
